• •By the end of the first term, there were 92 students.
• •The 1887 catalog lauded the rural location: "Being in the country, we avoid many of the temptations incident to towns and cities and save our patrons much extravagance in dress.
• •" The first commencement took place on May 20, 1887, and every student participated in the program.
• •On the evening of December 20, 1900, a suspicious fire destroyed the academy and all the buildings except for the large wooden tabernacle.
